Cooking time for Butter Chicken | Murgh Makhani Recipe: 45 minutes

Ingredients for Butter Chicken | Murgh Makhani Recipe cooked for 4 people:

1. Curry cut chicken – 700 gm

2. Onion – 2 sliced

3. Tomato – 1 sliced

4. Ginger-garlic paste 2 tsp

5. 1 tsp Cumin seeds

6. 5 pepper corns

7. 3 cardamoms

8. 2 1″ cinnamon sticks

9. 5 cloves

10. 1 tsp salt

11. 1 tsp sugar

12. 1 tsp chilly powder

13. Mixture of 1 tsp turmeric powder in lemon’s(1) juice mixed in water (for tandoori color)

14. Kasoori Methi (Fenugreek leaves dried and crushed)

15. Butter

16. Oil

17. Curd: 3/4 cup

18. Shahi garam masala (1 tsp)

Butter Chicken | Murgh Makhani Recipe – The Method:

1. Marinate the chicken pieces with turmeric-lime juice paste and salt for 1/2 hr

2. Now add to the chicken chilly powder, garam masala, ginger garlic paste (1tsp), curd and marinate for preferably 2 hours

3. Heat oil butter in wok and put cumin seeds, pepper corn, cardamom, cinnamon, clove and let them crackle

4. Add onion juliens and a tsp of sugar and fry till onion turns brown

5. Put fried onions in a grinder and make a paste

6. Fry tomato and make a paste in a grinder

7. Now, heat oil and 4 tsp butter, take out only the chicken pieces from the marinate and put them in the pan and grill. Fry till all chicken pieces are fried on both sides. Keep them separate

8. In the residue oil, put 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, saute

9. Add onion paste and stir

10. Add tomato paste and stir

11. Add the marinate mix and stir. Cook will oil separates

12. Add chicken pieces and coat with the gravy in the wok

13. Now add water and bring it to boil

14. Cover cook on simmer for 15 minutes or chicken is cooked

15. Add kasuri methi or crushed dry fenugreek leaves and a dollop or butter and cover cook for 5-6 mins

16. You can add fresh cream (I do not add it as I do not want to make it for fattening)

17. Switch off the flame

 Our tasty butter chicken is ready to be served with rotis.
