Do you know how to make them? Read more. I’ll share with you the method today. At home, my daughter loves kebabs and for her, we really need to make it simple and just aptly spiced. You can serve these as starters or side dish with biryani as well. So let’s check the Chicken tangri kebab recipe!

Total time required to marinate the Chicken tangri kebab: 10 hours


Total time required to grill the Chicken tangri kebab: 50 minutes


Serves: 8 people


Ingredients for making Chicken tangri kebab:

  • Around 1400 gms of chicken – leg pieces ( I took a few big pieces of other parts as well ) – Total 10 – 16 pieces
  • 1 cup hung curd
  • 3 tsp ginger, garlic, red chilli dry – paste
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 tsp garam masala powder (black and green cardamoms, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, mace)
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 lemon – extract juice
  • 1/3rd tsp ajwain or carom powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 20 black pepper corns
  • 1.5 tsp cumin powder
  • 1.5 tsp coriander powder
  • Mustard oil
  • Salt

Chicken tangri kebab recipe:

  • In a mixer – grinder, put garlic, ginger, chillies, spices (whole or powdered), lemon juice. Mix and grind all ingredients together to form the marinade
  • Rub chicken pieces with salt and let it stay for 10 minutes
  • Then, pour the marinade mixture over chicken pieces
  • Add curd and rub the chicken pieces well with the marinade
  • Put inside the refrigerator for some time. I kept overnight  (for about 8 – 10 hours)
  • Take the chicken out 1 hour before and keep them at room temperature
  • Now, its time to grill. On the lower grill rack, keep the chicken pieces aligned in a layer. Drizzle some oil around the chicken pieces. Grill for 25 minutes
  • Now, after 25 minutes, flip sides of chicken pieces, drizzle more oil and grill for more 25 minutes or till the kebabs are cooked properly. Make sure the kebabs are not over burnt!
  • You can choose to grill chicken pieces in batches

Serve Chicken tangri kebab hot with lemon juice drizzled and onion rings !!
