Cumin cookies with whole wheat | Jeera atta cookies

This is the first time I am sharing a cookie recipe in this blog. Cumin cookies with whole wheat | Jeera atta cookies would be the first one. This cookie is a very healthy one since it’s made with whole wheat and no refined flour, less sugar and a little fat. This is more of a Desi cookie recipe that wins your heart when munched along with the evening tea! It tastes salty and the bite of the cumin seeds does more magic to the taste and texture. So just make it and enjoy with family and friends as much as you like guilt free.

Ingredients required to make Cumin cookies with whole wheat | Jeera atta cookies: 17 – 19 cookies

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour or atta
  • 1/2 – 3/4 th cup butter
  • 3 heapful tsp of powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp whole cumin seeds
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp or as per taste
  • Water

Cumin cookies with whole wheat | Jeera atta cookies – The recipe:

  • Take butter, powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Mix them
  • Add whole wheat flour or atta, salt and mix well to form a crumbly textured mixture
  • Add cumin seeds, water as needed (around 3/4 cup) and let all the ingredients come together to form a tight dough yet soft
  • Divide the dough into 3 balls
  • With hand form an elongated dough (cylindrical form) out of each balls
  • Let the dough rest for some good 15 minutes
  • Now on a working surface, put each elongated dough. Cut the dough into circular equal portions
  • Take each slice of the dough, flatten a bit with your hand. Take a fork, press against a surface of the dough 3-4 times so as to make some stripped designs
  • Take a pizza baking pan. Cover its baking surface with aluminum foil
  • Now, put the flattened circular slices on the pan
  • Pre-heat the oven at 180 C
  • Insert the pan into the oven, for 20 minutes, at 180 C
  • Once done, take the pan out carefully
  • Turn each cookies upside down. Put pan inside the oven
  • Bake at 180 C for 3 – 4 more minutes
  • Once done take the pan out. Let them cool to room temperature. Now they turn Crispy, crunchy, munchy and done!
